Attention, restricted area! Along the Potsdam border strip
"Nobody intends to build a wall!" And yet it came and divided Germany. The border fortifications shaped Potsdam's cityscape during the Cold War. The border ran right through what is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guided tour is a fascinating journey back to the time of division. Participants hear moving accounts from border crossers and agents. The route leads from the Glienicke Bridge, the "Bridge of Spies," along the former German-German border through the New Garden to the former border checkpoint at the Bertini Narrows.
