Babelsberg Palace Concerts
German Film Orchestra Babelsberg & Brothers Selke: Cello & Synthesizer
With this special concert series, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg continues its collaboration with the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg in 2026. Three concerts in the historic ballroom will serve as a prelude to the special openings of the palace during the months of August to October, featuring guided tours that explore fascinating and previously unexplored aspects of the palace's history.
This concert in the series will feature original and arranged works for cello and synthesizer, performed by the assistant principal cellist of the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and his brother, a pianist who will become director of the Potsdam Singakademie in autumn 2026. Having grown up in a prefabricated apartment building in East Berlin, the "Selke Brothers" developed an early passion for film and music. Today, their own compositions can be heard in international productions; this evening, they will be presented in dialogue with classic films.
