**How does the banana become a research subject? And why is it so important for a food-secure future?**

The exhibition “_BananaRama_ – A Research Journey to the Banana” provides answers. It illuminates the world of the banana from the laboratory to the field, from its biology to its great diversity, and offers fascinating insights into banana research: How are new varieties bred? What do drones have to do with banana cultivation? And why is equality in agriculture an important issue?

Interactive elements and selected exhibits demonstrate the role of international agricultural research – and why preserving biodiversity, protecting against plant diseases, and accessing knowledge can be vital for survival. The focus is on the plantain, a staple food for millions of people worldwide.

The exhibition was produced by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Based on the work of the Global Research Partnership for a Food Secure Future (CGIAR), it makes clear that food security and climate change are global challenges that we can only address together.

The exhibition is included in the entrance fee.
