Belvedere on the Klausberg: Fantastic views!
Special opening of the Belvedere on the Klausberg
As part of a beautification plan for the area surrounding the New Palace, Frederick the Great commissioned the construction of the Belvedere on Klausberg Hill between 1770 and 1772. It established the tradition of architecturally designed viewpoints in Potsdam. The Belvedere was destroyed and completely burned down in the final days of the war in 1945. Thanks to the Messerschmidt Foundation, the ruins of the Belvedere were restored after German reunification. Today, the upper hall shines once again in its former glory.
