Two eleven-year-old boys got into a fight in the park: one hit the other with a stick, and the other nearly lost two front teeth. The parents, as civilized individuals, want to discuss over coffee and cake how best to proceed from a pedagogical point. But the dialogue between the two opposing sets of parents escalates. Which of the boys was truly at fault? Does one child's violent behavior perhaps point to problems within the parents? How can the nighttime abandonment of a hamster, the uncontrolled vomiting of valuable art books, or the persistent phone calls defending a potentially harmful medication be interpreted in this context?
