The Telegrafenberg in Potsdam - Where knowledge meets research
It is arguably the city's most intelligent hill: Telegrafenberg (Telegraph Hill). The construction of the optical telegraph station in 1832 marked the beginning of the site's development. However, its most famous structure is probably the Einstein Tower – a solar observatory designed to confirm Einstein's theory of relativity. It gave its name to the Albert Einstein Science Park, now located here, which includes the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the Potsdam Institute for Astrophysics, the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. The combination of research and striking architecture amidst nature makes this place truly unique.
