The Soviet secret service town "Military Town No. 7"

"Forbidden City"—that's what the people of Potsdam called the secluded Soviet military counterintelligence compound. The guided tour reveals surviving traces of this Cold War hotspot and recounts the fates of those connected to it. The tour begins in the courtyard of the former central remand prison of the counterintelligence service and leads past, among other places, the headquarters of the secret service. Visitors will also see relics of a large memorial complex and Russian-language tree carvings that tell of the daily lives of the guards stationed here. Rare historical photographs offer glimpses into the hidden inner workings of this Soviet restricted area for decades.
