On the first weekend of Advent, the courtyard of one of the historic wooden houses in the Russian colony of Alexandrowka opens its doors for a Christmas market. Visitors can discover a variety of things, including homemade jams and chutneys, handicrafts, Christmas cards, and cookies from the on-site bakery. Mulled wine or hot apple cider, freshly baked waffles, and a slice of bread with wild garlic butter or other homemade spreads provide the perfect pre-Christmas treat.
