Nature Journaling for Shadow Children
**A project for shadow children**
The "Nature Journaling for Shadow Children" project is aimed at children between 8 and 12 years old who, as siblings of chronically or seriously ill children, are often overlooked. Together with the Hackenjos & Daughters Foundation, the Biosphere Potsdam creates a safe space for nature observation, creativity, and exchange. The children discover plants and animals, create their own nature journals, and can creatively record their impressions. The goal is to give them time just for themselves and to experience nature as a calming and empowering place.
**What is Nature Journaling?**
Nature Journaling at the Hackenjos Foundation is a creative educational program that playfully combines art and natural science. Children are encouraged to experience the environment with all their senses by recording observations, sketches, and questions in a journal. It's not about perfection, but about documenting personal discoveries. This method cultivates mindfulness, fosters curiosity, and creates a deep, lasting connection to local flora and fauna, far removed from the digital world.
**The Hackenjos & Daughters Foundation**
The Hackenjos & Daughters Foundation sees itself as a "foundation for open space" and is committed to a livable future at the intersection of humanity, art, and nature. Since its founding in 2018, the non-profit organization has focused primarily on supporting nature conservation projects and providing vibrant environmental education for children and young people.
