New Palace: Imperial Christmas with punch and mulled wine
Christmas tour
The Grotto Hall presented a unique sight on Christmas Eve. The candlelight from the chandeliers and wall sconces made the walls, decorated with crystals and precious stones, sparkle. In the Garden Hall, designed by Frederick the Great in the 18th century, Emperor Wilhelm II and his family celebrated Christmas from 1889 to 1917. Princess Victoria Luise, the daughter of Emperor Wilhelm II, described the festivities as the highlight of family life. This tour focuses on the imperial use of the palace. You will learn about the functions of the rooms during Advent, the delicacies served at Christmas dinner, and the gifts the imperial couple and their seven children received. Wilhelm II was the first monarch to reside in the New Palace as his preferred residence for several months each year.
To round off the festive Christmas tour, mulled wine or mulled wine will be served at the end of the tour.
The guided tour “Imperial Christmas” (without punch) is available during Advent. Also bookable for groups. "
