Gisèle Halimi (1927–2020) was born into a Jewish family in Tunisia, Fatema Mernissi (1940–2015) into a Muslim family in Morocco. They shared a similar cultural background, both studied abroad, and both championed a world in which women have the opportunity to make their own decisions and help shape society.

On stage, in a fictional encounter, they exchange ideas about the sources from which they drew their inspiration, as well as about their commitment, which can also serve as an inspiration for current and future generations of women.
