UNESCO World Heritage Day 2026: A cappella film music by the film choir "The Birds"
Potsdam transforms into a stage and invites everyone to UNESCO World Heritage Day on June 7, 2026, under the motto "UNESCO³ – Film Meets World Heritage". In addition to the many city-wide events for the day, the diverse supporting program on the island stage of Freundschaftsinsel (Friendship Island) offers something for everyone.
The Berlin film choir "Die Vögel" (The Birds) brings the film industry to life with their powerful voices! Without cameras, but with plenty of energy, filmmakers from all disciplines meet weekly to reinterpret film music a cappella. Their repertoire ranges from iconic series intros like "Game of Thrones" and pop culture phenomena like "Barbie / I'm Just Ken" to classics like "Misirlou" from Pulp Fiction. The choir is led by singer and musician Lilli Born and was founded by director Eileen Byrne. A second group in Munich complements the project – both choirs perform together at events like the Berlinale.
