UNESCO World Heritage Day 2026: Short Films to the Power of 3 - Green Visions Potsdam meets UNESCO

Potsdam transforms into a stage and invites everyone to UNESCO World Heritage Day on June 7, 2026, under the motto "UNESCO³ – Film Meets World Heritage". In addition to the many city-wide events for the day, the diverse supporting program on the island stage of Freundschaftsinsel (Friendship Island) offers something for everyone.

SHORT FILMS SQUARED: Green Visions Potsdam meets UNESCO
Potsdam has been a UNESCO City of Film since 2019. Green Visions Potsdam, the film festival for sustainable living in Potsdam, annually screens short films from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Three short films from this year's program will be shown on the island stage:

RISKY ROUTES
Documentary film, 6 min, 2025, directed by Jonas Steiner
UNESCO Creative City of Film Bristol (England)
A documentary film about the migration of toads and the life-threatening obstacles they encounter each spring.

STONE GROWTH
Animated film, 7 min, 2026, directed by Jokūbas Rimkus
UNESCO Creative City of Film Potsdam / Film University Babelsberg
In a world where stones grow back, a boy lives with his grandmother in a garden shed.

MERENELÄVIÄ (FISH RIVER ANTHOLOGY)
Animated film/musical, 9 min, 2024, directed by Veera Lamminpää
UNESCO Creative City of Design Helsinki (Finland)
If fish could talk - just before closing time, the fish counter in the supermarket starts to sing.
