UNESCO World Heritage Day 2026: Sehsüchte 2026 - Best Children's Film
Potsdam transforms into a stage and invites everyone to UNESCO World Heritage Day on June 7, 2026, under the motto "UNESCO³ – Film Meets World Heritage". In addition to the many city-wide events for the day, the diverse supporting program on the island stage of Freundschaftsinsel (Friendship Island) offers something for everyone.

A story about friendship, pressure, and belonging. Mia is caught between her friend Caro and the ostracized Miriam. Will she join in the bullying to fit in, or will she stand up to the group and become a target herself?

The film "IM KREIS" (In the Circle) won Best Children's Film at the Sehsüchte International Student Film Festival in 2026. The jury consisted of children and teenagers. The prize was sponsored by the mayor of Potsdam, the capital of the state of Brandenburg. The film powerfully depicts the reality of bullying in schools and the limited opportunities victims have to defend themselves. Ultimately, the acting performances and the sensitive portrayal of one character's inner turmoil also proved compelling.
