UNESCO World Heritage Day 2026: Dance performance "Alice in Wonderland"
Potsdam transforms into a stage and invites everyone to UNESCO World Heritage Day on June 7, 2026, under the motto "UNESCO³ – Film Meets World Heritage". In addition to the many city-wide events for the day, the diverse supporting program on the island stage of Freundschaftsinsel (Friendship Island) offers something for everyone.
Just moments ago, Alice was in class, and now she's in a wondrous land with dancing flowers, madcap tea parties, and a very despotic queen. She can't quite explain how she got there, but some of the characters seem awfully familiar. Wasn't the rabbit, always insisting on the time, just a moment ago her classmate's stuffed animal? And doesn't the queen, who has everything painted red, look a bit like her teacher?
Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" is one of the most famous children's book classics of the 19th century and has been adapted for the stage and screen numerous times. Marita Erxleben now brings it to the stage as a magical dance piece for children aged four and up.
A fantastical adventure full of magic, courage, and wondrous encounters awaits the audience. And in the end, the question remains: What was dream, what was reality? And is there even a difference between the two?
-A dance production by the association Spass am Tanz and the Erxleben Dance Academy, with children, teenagers and adults from Potsdam.-
