Historic Mill of Sanssouci

Do you see the Dutch windmill in the background? The historic mill blends picturesquely into the parkland of Sanssouci. The gallery windmill still produces flour today, but it also serves as a museum with a permanent exhibition on milling history spread over four levels. Dutch Quarter

Time for a break. Many small restaurants and cafes await you in the Dutch Quarter. King Frederick William I, the Soldier King, urgently needed well-trained craftsmen to expand the garrison town of Potsdam. He found them in neighboring Holland. And because the Dutch were meant to feel at home in Potsdam, he had this quarter, with its approximately 150 brick houses, built in the mid-18th century.

After your journey through Europe, you can end your evening in Potsdam at the Meierei Brewery in the New Garden, right on the shore of the Jungfernsee lake. Formerly used as a dairy with stately milk parlors and royal tea rooms, it combined economic and courtly functions. In 1842, the complex was redesigned in the so-called Norman castle style by order of Frederick William IV.
