Coming from Potsdam Central Station via the Lange Brücke (Long Bridge), Otto-Braun-Platz is hard to miss. At the edge of the square, a new tree – the Petition Linden – was planted in memory of the one destroyed by the war. It has a long tradition dating back to the Prussian kings.
From his study in the city palace, Frederick the Great could look out onto the petition linden tree, where the people attached written petitions to the branches.
The new petition linden tree follows the tradition, as petitions can still be made at this location - but in digital form via a data code located on the information panel belonging to the petition linden tree.
