Since the summer of 2024, the Boulevard of Film has been under construction on Brandenburger Straße. Large plaques integrated into the new paving will honor 55 of the best films produced in Potsdam and the surrounding region.
The films presented on the Boulevard of Film include: The Dance of Death, Metropolis, The Blue Angel, Münchhausen, The Punch Bowl, The Murderers Are Among Us, The Cold Heart, The Story of Little Muck, Trace of Stones, The Legend of Paul and Paula, Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella, Solo Sunny, Sonnenallee, The Reader, Inglourious Basterds, Bridge of Spies – The Negotiator and Babylon Berlin.
The Boulevard of Film is a project of the marketing department of the city of Potsdam. It was developed in 2018 in the context of the initial planning for the complex reconstruction of Brandenburg Street and further developed in 2019 as part of Potsdam's application for the title of UNESCO Creative City of Film. Criteria for film selection included: significance for the location (creativity from Potsdam), social relevance, audience success/cult status of the film, special artistic or technical achievement, and awards and prizes for the works.
