The Brandenburg Museum invites you to discover the cultures and identities of Brandenburg and to discuss together how local culture and global processes intertwine. Because the present is controversial and the future is open.
Brandenburg is a young state with a long history. Who ruled whom here? Who demanded their own rights? What to do during floods – and what during droughts? What happened when there was a lack of work – or a shortage of workers? Who wanted to leave and who wanted to come? How did people make ends meet here, and how will we be able to live here in the future? At the Brandenburg Museum, questions about the future and observations of the present meet the experiences of the past. This allows us to understand how the state has changed and how it can be shaped today.
The Brandenburg Museum focuses on the diverse lives of people in Brandenburg. Therefore, the museum travels throughout the state, showcasing Brandenburg's culture and history in a way never seen before. To this end, it collaborates with cultural institutions across the state – networking, debating, experimenting, getting involved, and actively shaping the future.
The Brandenburg Museum invites everyone interested in new perspectives on the seemingly familiar. Everyone who wants to get to know Brandenburg better. Everyone who has many stories to tell about the past. Everyone who is looking for a future here.
The historic coach house invites you to Brandenburg. Exhibition The Brandenburg exhibition invites visitors on a journey through ten centuries and across diverse regions. The range of topics, the perspectives of people throughout history, and the invitation to participate – the Brandenburg exhibition focuses its themes where history and the present intersect. Thus, the exhibition offers interactive elements for all age groups, even the youngest visitors.
In the Brandenburg. Workshop The changing special exhibitions address socially relevant topics. Here, individual exchanges about history and culture take place.
The Brandenburg Studio The "Archive of the People" offers a digital exhibition featuring everyday objects, to which people tell their own stories. The Brandenburg.Studio also provides opportunities for collaborative learning and play in workshops.
The Brandenburg Museum is one of four participating museums in the MUSEUM combination ticket.
