Christ Church

Christ Church is the house of worship for the Evangelical Lutheran Christ Congregation of the independent Evangelical Lutheran Church. It is a red, neo-Gothic brick building with a tower, somewhat hidden and squeezed between two residential buildings. Designed by Georg Grabkowsky, the neo-Gothic building was consecrated in 1903. Its construction was supported by Empress Auguste Victoria, affectionately known as "Church Guste." The vaulted interior, with its nearly square floor plan, still retains its original furnishings from the time of its construction, including a crucifix carved by the sculptor Zechmair from Berchtesgaden and the pneumatically controlled organ with nine stops by Alexander Schuke from Potsdam. This organ is one of the oldest examples made by Schuke and is the jewel of Christ Church.
