The area between Glienicke Bridge and Cecilienhof Palace in the New Garden is one of Potsdam's most popular destinations. Little remains to remind us that this area, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was once the border between East Germany and West Berlin until 1990. An exhibition on eight information panels explains the construction of the border fortifications and explores daily life in the border region. The information trail extends from Glienicke Bridge up to Bertinistraße, where a central border crossing for shipping between East and West was located between 1965 and 1990.
The information trail is accessible year-round. A leisurely walk from Glienicke Bridge (Station 1) to Bertinistraße (Station 8) takes approximately 60 minutes.
