King Frederick II of Prussia had the colonist's house built in 1751. It was one of the first of a total of 210 houses. The gardener Jacob Rochowin became the first owner through a royal gift.
Today, the building houses two medical practices and, together with the gatehouse extension, forms the entrance to the Oberlinhaus grounds. The building's renovation was funded by the Urban Heritage Conservation Program in 2002/03.
