Liebermann Villa on Lake Wannsee: Memorial Garden

What is remembered and why? Thinking about monuments is more exciting than you might think! They're not just statues and horses on pedestals. The Liebermann Villa and its garden, for example, are also a monument. Together, we'll explore why the house is a listed building and what that means in concrete terms. We'll investigate what can be considered a monument. The students will consider what they want to preserve or whom they want to commemorate and how this can be expressed. Does a monument even need a pedestal? Must it remain permanently in one place? In practical exercises, we'll explore how remembrance can find artistic expression. We'll create our own designs using various materials such as wood, cardboard, or modeling clay.
