Marly Garden in Sanssouci Park

During the reign of the "Soldier King," cabbage and turnips were grown in the Marly Garden for the palace kitchen. Finally, in the 19th century, the landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné designed a particularly beautiful park area on this site.
The main path through the Marly Garden leads to a gardener's house dating from the time Sanssouci Palace was built. Here stands a marble statue of Frederick the Great from 1899. It shows the still young king with a walking stick in his hand and his gaze directed into the distance.
Among the dendrological highlights of the park are the chaste tree to the left and right of the Jesus figure, a handkerchief tree, ginkgo trees, a Judas tree right next to the garden directorate and the towering tulip tree.
The garden is freely accessible as part of Sanssouci Park.
