NANO - Understanding Science: Experimental Workshops for Grades 3-13
As part of our cooperation with our partner EWP – Stadtwerke Potsdam, Potsdam school classes have the opportunity to participate in an experimental workshop on the following topics:
Geothermal energy
The Earth's interior is incredibly hot – in some places even hotter than the surface of the sun! This heat stems from the Earth's formation billions of years ago. Despite this long time, the Earth is still cooling. But don't worry, it will take many billions of years for the Earth to cool down completely.
To harness the Earth's heat, suitable locations must first be found. The exciting experiments and engaging research tasks of this hands-on course demonstrate how this search works and how the heat is then brought into homes.
Electromobility
Electromobility means driving with electricity – without local emissions, without noisy combustion engines, and without gasoline. But how do electric cars actually work, and how and where do you charge them? And why are electric vehicles silent?
These and many other questions will be addressed in the workshop. Hands-on experiments and practical knowledge will inspire students about the topic.
Photovoltaics
Without solar cells, there would be no internet, no smartphones, no GPS, and no weather forecasts. But is it conceivable to cover our entire electricity needs solely through photovoltaics? What photovoltaics actually means, how it works, and why there can be no future energy supply without harnessing sunlight are demonstrated through exciting experiments and lively explanations in this course on the topic.
