At the end of Brandenburger Straße stands the Catholic parish church, dating from 1870. Its striking feature is the nearly 60-meter-high bell tower, an allusion to the campanile of the San Zeno church in Verona. The design for the Church of St. Peter and Paul is by Wilhelm Salzenberg, based on preliminary designs by Stüler, and combines Byzantine and Romanesque stylistic elements. Frederick William IV had sent Wilhelm Salzenberg to Italy in 1846 and to Constantinople in 1847/48 to study Romanesque-Byzantine architecture.
The church contains valuable furnishings from the 18th-century predecessor building: three altarpieces by Antoine Pesne from 1723 and 1739, as well as valuable silverwork and a crucifixion group by Peter Benckert. Pesne and Benckert were prominent artists of the Potsdam Rococo period. The 41-stop organ, built by the Schuke company, dates from 1936. The Catholic parish in Potsdam has approximately 8000 members.
