Guided tours for groups

Nowhere else in Germany are as many national and international films produced as in Potsdam. The film industry here has a tradition spanning over 100 years: in 1911, Deutsche Bioskop laid the foundation for the... Studio Babelsberg – today the oldest large-scale film studio in the world. The first scene was filmed in 1912 for "The Dance of Death" starring Asta Nielsen.

Since October 2019, Potsdam has been the first and so far only city in Germany to hold the title of "UNESCO Creative City of Film". The city also sets standards in film history: Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", filmed in Babelsberg in 1925 and 1926, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. UNESCO-World Documentary Heritage.

Whether on a guided tour to original filming locations, through the media city of Babelsberg as the center of state-of-the-art film production, in the film museum with its exhibition depot, or in the villa colony of Neubabelsberg, where film stars of Ufa and Defa once lived: film is palpable everywhere in Potsdam – and firmly anchored in the city's DNA.
