"Experience the Original": The cycle route explores northwestern Brandenburg, following in the footsteps of one of the region's most famous authors, Theodor Fontane, who, like no other, embodies the exploration of the Mark Brandenburg. The main route, FONTANE.RAD, leads through the Brandenburg Lake District, the eastern Prignitz region, and the Havelland from Oranienburg to Potsdam in eight daily stages. A city tour of Fontane's birthplace, Neuruppin, seven additional day trips, and two variations of the main route lead from Neuruppin to Neustadt (Dosse) and from Werder (Havel) to Brandenburg an der Havel. Information panels at approximately 60 Fontane sites invite cyclists to linger and offer tips on local experiences and information about Fontane's stories of the Mark Brandenburg.
