"Havelland – All in All" combines sections of the Havel Cycle Path in the Havelland region and the Havelland Cycle Path into an impressive circular tour. The route leads from Berlin-Spandau along the Havel River via Potsdam, Werder (Havel), and Brandenburg an der Havel, continuing through the expansive landscapes of Westhavelland to Rathenow – and then back to Spandau via Nauen. A journey that uniquely combines nature, culture, and waterways.
Starting in Berlin-Spandau – Departure into the river country
The journey begins in Berlin-Spandau, where urban bustle gradually gives way to the relaxed rhythm of the Havel River. Following the river, the route leads through magnificent floodplain landscapes to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Potsdam – a first cultural highlight with palaces, parks, and shimmering lakes.
Island town of Werder & Brandenburg – water, open spaces, old towns
Beyond Potsdam, the Havelland region unfolds: The island town of Werder (Havel) captivates visitors with its old town streets, orchards, and Mediterranean flair. The Havel Cycle Path continues to Brandenburg an der Havel, one of the oldest cities in the state – characterized by Romanesque churches, medieval squares, and the tranquil waterways of the Havel River, which widens here into expansive lakes.
Through the star park into the heart of the Havelland region
From Brandenburg an der Havel, the route continues towards Rathenow, into the quiet landscapes of the Westhavelland Nature and Star Park – one of the darkest regions in Germany.
Between shimmering waters, reed beds, and expansive wetlands, a natural landscape unfolds that allows cyclists to take a deep breath. Cranes, white-tailed eagles, and countless water birds accompany the route through one of Germany's most impressive river landscapes.
In Rathenow, the “city of optics”, the Optics Park, the Optics Industry Museum and a magnificent panoramic view from the Kirchberg await.
Returning via Nauen and Ribbeck – culture & Brandenburg charm
From Rathenow, head east – now on the Havelland Cycle Path. Wide fields, quiet avenues and the Havelland marshland characterize the landscape.
In Nauen, the historic old town invites you to linger after passing through the legendary Ribbeck, where Fontane's famous pear tree still keeps the memory of "Herr von Ribbeck" alive.
Charming village greens, small cafes and Brandenburg brick architecture accompany the last few kilometers before Spandau is reached again – the starting and ending point of a journey that makes the Havelland region "completely" tangible.
