Queen Louise Cycle Route

The Queen Louise Route, approximately 222 km long, follows in the footsteps of Queen Louise of Prussia, who died in 1810. The route begins in Hohenzieritz near Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where she died, and ends in Paretz near Ketzin in the Havelland region. The southern part of the route leads from her grave in Charlottenburg Palace Park, across Peacock Island with the Louise Temple, to Paretz Palace, the former summer residence of Queen Louise and her husband, Frederick William III. The palace was built at the end of the 18th century by David Gilly. Its furnishings include the famous Paretz wallpaper. The entire ensemble of palace, park, and village represents a prime example of Prussian rural architecture.

Nature
The cycle path runs along sections of the following cycle paths: Havel Cycle Path, EuroVelo R1 and Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Path.
The Berlin section is not signposted and partly runs along the road through residential areas.
From the Ketzin ferry to Paretz, the path is partly unpaved and narrow.
