About the Havel lakes of Potsdam and Brandenburg

The Havel River, with its lakes near Potsdam and Brandenburg, presents a fascinating river landscape steeped in history, flowing between two historic cities. Around Potsdam, one can admire the history and architecture of great Prussian kings from the water, while further downstream, the orchards of the "Muckersche" (a local name for the region) come into view. Passing idyllic villages and meadows, one soon reaches the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, the cradle of the Margraviate of Brandenburg. Slavs and bishops have left their mark here. A side trip to the Beetzsee and Plauer See lakes completes the perfect boat tour.
